VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement

The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) qualification is the only assessor’s qualification that will enable you to work as a fully qualified assessor. http://www.vtct.org.uk

To assess and train candidates you must have an A1 Assessor TAQA or CAVA award. This is the most recent standard that NVQ Assessors must achieve to assess NVQs.

The primary outcome of the VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is to prepare you to enter the specific sector of education and training as a vocational assessor. All the units in this qualification relate directly to the specific job role of vocational assessor.

Not everyone can understand learning outcomes, knowledge requirements, assessment criteria and observation requirements!!! It can be daunting and absolutely baffling!!

The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is a substantial vocational qualification. Consequently, this will prepare you for a career as a vocational assessor.

This qualification is aimed at learners aged 19 years and older. It will support you to gain employment as a vocational assessor, as the units contained in this qualification will cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.

This is a practical-based qualification. Its intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment.  Alongside vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (i.e. workshop, classroom or other training environment). Importantly, entry onto this qualification will require you to have full competence in the vocational subject area that you will be assessing. In addition you will need access to a cohort of learners, so that you can gather evidence of real assessments.

This qualification includes units covering the principles and practices of assessment, assessing learners’ occupational competence in the work place and assessing vocational skills. As well as knowledge and understanding of education and training.

We run this course within the academy and we deliver over 2 separate sessions.

  • Firstly we look at the units preparing and planning for assessment.
  • Second session is related to the theory element.

Furthermore you must have teaching hours to be able to complete the criteria for the qualification. However, these can be shadowing hours and if needed we can help out with those. Importantly, we will help and support you throughout the whole of the qualification.

However to be able to study to be an assessor you must hold a qualification in the industry you wish to assess. For example to assess Beauty Therapy within the workplace you must be qualified in beauty therapy.
